I just installed my power pack kit on my hobie 16 and had a question. I put silicone around the sleeve and placed it in the hole drilled in the mast. I tapped it into place and flattened the rim to the surface of the mast and wiped away excess silicone.Then put the rivet through the hole on the cheek block plate and into the sleeve (with more silicone) and set the rivet. Was this the correct sequence or should the sleeve go through the unit you are trying to attach?

The power pack kit is the 6:1 down haul, Jib halyard upgrade and 2:1 out haul, all in one kit. The Spinnaker kit a totally different option consisting of the spinnaker, snuffer rod & bag, sheets and hardware to install. I had the dealer install the spinnaker kit when I ordered my H16, but was not aware of the power pack kit until later. In fact I was a little confused because there was a typo on the web download catalog concerning the power pack kit. It wasn't until I got the hard copy of the catalog with my Hobie that I saw that the power pack kit was what I wanted. I ordered it in December and had to wait a month for it to come in because it was back ordered. I guess it comes from Australia. I just installed it last week and have not had a chance to try it out. That pesky work thing keeps me away from the important stuff. :D

That's a new one on us. Aris has been in the Hobie biz 30+ years, and had never heard it called that.

I'd heard power pack as a chute reference for monohulls. Assumed the same. I now see the reference in the catalog to power pack for the outhaul. But I don't see it in reference to the fancy downhaul or jib halyard.

Your particular power pack sounds like something your dealer created.

More "power" to him. :lol:

Power Paks were created several years ago as a way to offer the latest class approved upgrades.

H16 #2091 - 6:1 Downhaul, 2:1 Outhaul, Jib Halyard Cleat
H14 #2090 - 6:1 Downhaul, 2:1 Outhaul, Mast rotation control

First shown in the 2005 catalog.

BTW make sure the nut at the bottom is put on with lock tight.
