Can I use rudders from a Hobie 17 on a 16? I think the answer is yes, but I don't know.

The entire rudder system? The biggest issue will be the lower casting. There is a difference in the gudgeons and their spacing. I doubt there is room on the transom for the required spacing.

No, just the rudders. I would be using the 16 assembly and castings.

You can use them, but the bolt holes are in different locations.

I used to have a spare rudder that was drilled for both - my recollection is that the hole for the upper casting is roughly in the same location for both (or at least you can make it work there).

Ok. Thanks for the replies. I'm looking to buy a pair of EPO's that were used on a 17. I assume I can fill and drill as need be as long as the rudders are the same.
