Hobie 16 roller furler

Does anyone know the proper set up for the Hobie 16 jib furler system ? I've just installed the full kit (including the new sail), but I'm a little confused about the sequence of events for raising the mast and adjusting the mast rake. I assume I'll still need some kind of line to replace the halyard to lead to my winch for raising the mast solo, while the jib is shackled to the swivel at the shroud shackle. Once the mast is raised and the bottom of the sail is shackled to the furler I'll then cleat off the raising line, right ? How do I then adjust mast rake since the 10 hole is up at the shroud shackle ? Or is it set it once and forget it from here on when using the roller furler jib ?

Thanks for any tips or pix of the best way to rig this up...

How expensive and where did you get a h16 jib furler system? Does it work with a standard jib without the battens?

Hobie Cat sells a Hobie 16 roller furling jib kit for the recreational market (not class legal for racing).

The conversion kit is $284. The jib is $400. Or, you can get your standard jib recut (removes material from the leech so it won't flutter).

Along with my previous question about how to adjust mast rake after installing the Hobie 16 roller furling jib, I'm also not sure I get the best way to rig and use the Jib Snorkle cover. Any help with this subject would be great !

I'm rigging the boat for a long distance solo multi-day camping trip, so I want the benefits of the roller furling when beaching / anchoring or in more wind than I can handle solo and still tack and gibe efficiently with my stock full battened jib setup. I'll also be using the mainsail halyard / mainsheet to hold the boom in place to reef the main around (after tying the gooseneck to the mast with a strap).

Man.. don't think it's worth $700 just to be able to roll that up on there.. and it's probably a lot less efficient without the battens in it.
