Jim here. Just got new shrouds for my 18. They measure 20'5" just as hobie wire chart states. Problem is the original 1990 ones I took off are 20'71/4". Any body know if the length changed from year to year? Can not get forestay to reach furler adjuster. Forestay measures 17'2" as per hobie wire guide. :( :( :(

you need to upgrade to a new forstay, or save money and add a second 10 hole adjuster in line. all for stay does is hold mast up until you tension the JIB

What do you mean upgrade? My rigging is exactly as 2009 parts catalog shows. Forestay adjuster is 12 holed, forestay is 17'2", pigtail is 241/2", bridles 351/8" just as stated in hobie wire guide. Problem is old shrouds 22'5" as compared to new ones at 20'5", can not reach furler adjuster with new shrouds. I also had replaced forestay but don't have old one to compare length to. Maybe it was longer also. I am comming up about 4" short even with adjuster all the way up and shrouds in upper chain plate hole. :( :?:

Just put old shrouds back on. Mast steps without problems. Brings me back to original question. Did the 18 have different shroud lengths in 1990?

G'day Hobie911

I would look again at your bridle lengths they sound short

4. WIRES
Bridle lengths shall not be shorter that 41 in, (104.14 cm) pin to pin.
