bought used h16 this weekend...plan to restore. Hulls are solid but I want to resurface them so they look great. Please let me know some options.....I posted this in the Hobie 16 forum and got back conflicting advice.

...paint??..........
...gel coat?? can I get that in different colors...
...Where can I get new carpets for the side of the tramp???........

BELIEVE ME WHEN I SAY THAT, ALL ADVICE IS GREATLY APPRECIATED

I have seen an older 16 at a local boatyard where they simply painted the hulls white and it looks great! Thinking of doing the same to my new to me (free) 14.

It depends on the boat, post some pics and you can get better advice.

You can buy a kit for the side rails directly from your nearsest Hobie dealer or online.

start with a buffer/sander. i mean a good one not something made of plastic. Do not sand use it as a buffer. Get some buffing compound from West Marine or where ever you choose. Finish it up with some Teflon polish and you should be good to go!

Just go to Murrays.com and get the 16 carpet kit.

Later,
Dan
