Hi there everyone, i am going to be in LA for a few days with nothing to do and was wondering if anyone would want to go sail around and possibly introduce me to some sailing spots in the area. i am hopefully moving to LA in a year for dental school so it would be nice to get to know the water. anyway just reply to the thread or possibly email me (i think i made it public),
hope to sail with you soon!,
Justin

p.s. just to re-iterate i will be there dec27-dec30

I live in San Diego, and I would be happy to take you for a sail on dec 27-30. You will have to drive 2 hours to get to SD, but we have better Bays down here anyway.

Normally I would take you up on that offer but I am recovering from Total Knee Replacement and do not think I will be in the best shape, by then, to take you sailing.

If you can tell me your experience and how you plan to participate when you move here maybe I can get you a ride. For example if you think you would be interested in a crewing position on a Formula 18 class boat then there may be someone to take you sailing.

It is usually rather chilly that time of year so it would take a bit of incentive for someone to take you out.

Later,
Dan

Thanks alot for both of the responses

jm- i would be willing to travel in order to sail, can i email you my contact info or vice versa?

dan- my intention is to begin sailing in the f-18 class. i am currently saving up the money to buy a used tiger once i get into the area but that may take a little more time than between now and then. if its cold water sailing i dont have a wet suit as i dont need one out here but i may be able to find one. so far my experience is somewhat lkimited but i have taken an agressive approach to learning. so far i have sailed for 6 months about 3x per week with the same crew member almost every time. i feel that i have forced myself into gaining quite a bit of experience but i am in no way a great sailor yet, i am willing to train however. just an FYI i weigh close to 200lbs but have begun trying to lose some weight for the sport.

anyway, thanks for the responses, let me know if i can email you guys and maybe we can get the ball rolling on something and hey if yr in HI between now and fall '11 you are more than welcome to sail with me (i live in kailua on oahu)
