2009 was a great year for me. I bought my 16 this year after not sailing for about 20 years. Here are some of the highlights and lifelong memories we made.
Our first sail.

My youngest son and future Hobie sailor.

My daughter(16 and loves sailing hobies) and me out on the lake.

My daughters back after we flipped for the first time, we were both trapped out and she flew into the mast. She said she thought it was the coolest wound in the world and wore it like a badge of honor.

My 16 and my brothers in Navarre Florida.

My brothers and I at Juanas Pagodas Good Time Regatta.

My matching tattoo.(something i always wanted)

Me crying about having to put her away for the winter.

These were just a few of the memories from this past year. I cant wait till next year! I would love to see pics of other sailors boats and there good times.

Cincy,

Awesome pics!! Your Hobie is beautiful, what did you use to paint your tramp frame and mast? (if you did) They look brand new. I have been waiting until winter to do mine and I'd like to know how you did it. Happy Holidays, and have a Hobie Day!

P.S. That tattoo RULES!!

I did not paint the boat, it is all original. I was lucky to find one that was well cared for. I recently purchased a new 6:1 harkin blocks, 6:1 downhaul, i double grometed my tramp, and got new jib cars. i cant wait till spring to tryit all.

I do sail at Brookeville. We had a blast there this past year. I was told there used to be 50 plus Hobies on that lake back in the day. I wish there was a cat friendly beach though. Do you also sail there?

I sail on Lake Monroe by Bloomington IN,it is about an hour from my house and we have a nice "beach" to rig and launch from.Come over sometime weekend and check it out this winter.I have two 16 and a 21 SE and would welcome some new sailors to our group. We used to have several 16s and a few 18s on the beach most weekends. There is a nice campground there called Paynetown State Recreation Area with very nice private beaches hidden in small sandy coves.

Cincy,

You should check us out this summer at hueston woods. Its the only Hobie racing in the area. Our website is http://www.huestonsailing.com. We race every sunday. If you're not interested in racing, at least you'll be around a bunch of hobie guys willing to help with anything.
