Any thoughts what one might be trading, if anything, in sailing performance what the hobie tandem may have vs the weta?

sail area

understand the Tandem Island rig to be from the Bravo? right?

the Weta is a slightly larger main, PLUS jib, PLUS screacher (of same size as main)

The Weta does not have Mirage drives - so if there is no wind a tedious paddle might be in order; and the Weta's price tag is almost 3x that of the TI.

In any case, I want one of each ;) but I'm unlikely to get the business case past the one who must be obeyed.
