ME AND MATES HAVE BEEN IN TO FREE STYLING OUR H16'S FOR A WHILE NOW AND WAS WONDERING IF ANY ONE ELSE HAS GOT ANY TRICKS OR MOVES WE COULD ADOPT OVER HERE IN BLIGHTY OUR NEXT EXPRESSION SESSION IS SOON SO WOULD APPRECIATE ANY REPLIES. KEEP FLYING......

I dunno, I've been free balling on my 14 and I've done a few Trappin' Tarzan swings around the bridle on other boats, but I never considered freestyling.

I sailed my friend's 16 from the stern while trapped--had both feet square on the rear beam and I was facing straight forward with the tiller crossbar in both hands. Kinda felt like a really wet hang glider ride.

Does that count?

While flying a hull, start your run up the sail to the top of the mast, touch the top of the mast prior to the mast hitting the water.

Sail onto the beach while flying a hull while on the wire, how long can you continue to fly a hull while stopped on the beach. Take care not to fly around the forestay, full beach pitchpoll earns bonus points.

Freeboard on a daggerboard like in the movie "sharing the wind".

Sail upwind backwards. Start with the boat head to wind with the main and jib backwinded on the same side, hold the main to windward or tie it off as it will pull like crazy trying to get to the real leeward side. slowly turn the boat to the backwinded side and you soon will be sailing upwind backwards like a windsurfer sailing clew first. For added points, start from the port side of the line heading towards the typical starboard tack boats. You are leeward and still on starboard, but don't accidently jibe as you will be on port! Also, don't sheet out as you will be on a broad reach heading towards close hauled boats without any way to turn as you boat now excellerates forward!

OK, I understand freestyle now.

We used to have the girls stand on the boom, lean back into the main and sunbathe while we drove from the trapeze. Several years later was demonstrating that trick for our little boys and dumped um :oops:
A friends little brother (skater) could do handstands off the rail, he never figured out the best place to put the trapeze rigging.
In 40mph with reefed Main, undo the trapeze bungees so four guys can trap out on the same side, one steering and one sawing the jib sheet.

We used to fly hulls on the beach, while at a stand still...a full beach pitchpole? Ouch, for the boats sake!

Years ago with my old Hobie 16 we would be cranking downwind and see how far up the beach we could get. :lol: That was fun until the boat came to a sudden stop once and the crew went somersault over the bow.

PS, Try that with a F18 of any manufacture. :shock:

this would probably be best done with three people,

Heeling over almost near 45 degrees,

helmsman,counterbalance and a runner.

Get the mast as parellel to the water as possiable with out capsizeing have your runner climb onto the boom where then he starts a 26' walk.
(arrrr walk ye plank!!)

Haveing never don this I would assume as he nears the end/top the helmsman would have to point up to keep from caspizeing.

when the runner is a good way up/over the helmsman would point up abruptly thus flinging the runner into the water kinda like a "cat"er pult!

this is a conceptuial idea i have nor have i ever heard of it beeing done but thoughts and comments are as always welcome
