Been reading up on Nacras new carbon F-20. An expensive boat, but looks like a lot of fun. Kind of wondering if Hobie might respond with a 20?

$30,000 Gs for a 10' wide beach cat doesn't sound like a boat that will fill more than only a very small niche market. There's always the Fox if you're looking for a quick 20 footer from Hobie. The H 20 has a solid following as well.

Hobie USA is focused squarely on the recreational market - and that's no recreational boat.

Hobie Europe already has the Fox. They've even made a one-off carbon version of it.

Both companies are in business to make money (that's kind of the point of being in business), and "responding" to a competitor manufacturer's boat introduction is a sure way to lose money. The 20', high performance catamaran market is very, very small. I think Nacra has sold only one or two of the new 20' boats in North America so far.

Milipede,

Give me a call on my cell phone at 318-458-5912 and we'll synch up our calendaars. We've got a growing cadre of H16 sailors in Shreveport too. I'll get you plugged into our fledgling local network. We're centered around the Shreveport Yacht Club - it's a great facility.
