Hi I am new to Hobie and have bought an old 14. I was surprised to find that all three stays and the trapaze wires went to the same point on the mast. This seems a lot of tension for 4 rivets. The rivets seem sound but is it wise to strengthen the bracket in some way. Has anybody done this or am I worrying too much?

You worry too much. This tang design was from 1967 and stayed pretty much the same since... no problem. Trapeze was added much later... still no change and no problem. 6 Rivets I believe...

If you really want to worry look at the mast tang on a Hobie 21SE
