I recently acquired subject boat and found it had a little green plastic electric propeller
(looks like a trolling motor but no shift) on one if its rudders.
Wires come from it and lead to what appears to be a cylindrical battery older.
I am trying to find out if I could find a battery for it, so I can make use of it.
Can someone help me?

scratching my head at this. I would start with a small 12V battery and see if it spins over. You got nothing to loose.............
