Hi Everyone-

Just relocated from the Northeast to the Miami area (East Broward actually). My H16 is still in the Northeast for now.

I have been doing basic sailing on the Hobie for about nine years, but have never learned how to hike out, and have never felt as though I am a real pro at things like tacking in a race or in high winds. I'm wondering if there is someone in the Miami-Dade or East Broward area who would be interested in taking me out and showing me how to hike out, and how to be a more advanced Hobie sailor in general. Would have to be someone with their own Hobie. Or another beach cat is probably fine too.

Best, Paris.

The local Hobie fleet sails on Sunday mornings from the south end of Lauderdale Beach.
Google them. Probably your best bet.

The local dealer Nautical Ventures, Dania (about 10 mins south of Lauderdale Airport) is a source of inspiration, ask for John.
I've been buying stuff from them for years, they are terrific.

There have to be some Marina's or sailing clubs in Biscayne... I've seen some Hobie's at the Sea Isle Marine and Yachting Centre, where MacArthur Causeway reaches the mainland.
Further north would be better for you, I suggest.

We've often sailed up at Delray, at the south end there is a rental operator, and at the north end, ask around for Elias...
Those Delray guys know how to sail.....

Have you sailed in surf before?
