I'm working on purchasing my first Hobie cat here in Wilmington because I'm getting a steal on it and it looks like a ton of fun. Ive poorly sailed a small sunfish in a lake when I was a kid and have no other sailing experience. Is there anyone in the area that would be willing to show me the ropes just so I can kind off figure it out from there. I have a fishing boat and teach surf lessons so I'd be more than willing to make a new friend who loves the water.

Absolutely! I am always looking for another Hobie Cat sailor to sail with. I live near Trails End Rd and try to make it out at least once a month in the summer. I wish there were more sailors in the area. I have 2 neighbors that sail Lasers and Force 5s so sometimes I sail those as well.
