which Hobie to get/use?

I moved to San Diego last year and am suffering sailing withdrawal having left my Sanderling catboat (as in cape cod, not catamaran) behind.
Right now I have only my wife's new Hobie Revolution 11 with a sail from an old Hobie mirage sport. Sailing sort of but not really what I had in mind.
Was considering a used Hobie Wave but the beach bar waiting list is 2-5 years and it looks a little big to cartop easily.
So I am thinking about an Adventure Island and would like to get some opinions on that versus the Wave. In particular I'd like to hear about speed both of setup and under sail, stability, and comfort for longer outings. I'm also interested in whether the new AI is worth the price difference over an older used model.
My use will be mostly day sailing but with the AI I might try some longer trips and fishing. For SD locals I'd probably be launching in Mission Bay or Shelter Island and sometimes heading out into the Pacific.

Penn-I'm really surprised that the waiting list for a beach bar for a 14' boat at Mission Bay is now 2-5 years. We sail often in Mission Bay & the ocean (H-16) & bike around Mission Bay almost every day. It appears as though there are plenty of spaces available for 14' boats, especially over by Riviera Shores. I'd call the Lifeguard Headquarters again and speak to someone different than whoever you spoke with before. The Wave vs. the Adventure Island.....I believe they both set up quickly, but the Wave seems faster than the AI; Probably more durable also. I would talk to Ron Lane at Fast Lane Sailing (619)222-0766. They're our Hobie Dealer. One of Ron & Debbie's sons sailed to Catalina & went fishing with some friends on their Adventure Islands. Both boats seem like a lot of fun.
