I finally got the boat on the water. First time out and it is the Sail Sand Point Regatta in Seattle, Saturday/Sunday race.
Perfect cicumstances for the first sail on this boat.
First racce was nice light breeze, over the course of racing built up to about 10 by the end of the day.
Lots of new boat familiararity issues to work through but it was an awsome ride.
First thing that got fixed was the spin halyard cleat, had to remove the fairlead to keep it from recleating. I should have known beter about that, my Tiger was the same way.
Second was the sheets are a bit too long. Cut off some of those, should work beter.
Three hours on the boat so far, LOVE IT.
Hobie has done a good job of mating the Tiger and the Old H17. I have had both of those. I had no problem sailing it up or down wind other than the excess line lenghts jaming in the cleats and blocks. Hopefully that will be resolved by shortening some of them.
The boat has all the great features that make sailing the Tiger and the H17 so enjoyable; Great spinaker runs down wind, awsome single handing upwind.
It will be a couple of weeks till I can post anouther report about the FX 1, as I have had hand surgery, not sailing related.
So nothing but looking at the boat and toturing mysef till i can get back on it.
