I want to thank everyone for help I've received getting my H16 restored to sailing condition. If not for this board some expensive mistakes could have been made, also issues not addressed could have really jammed me up. I think the most important thing I've learned is BEFORE I do ANYTHING look it up here. Case in point...While buffing the hulls yesterday I noticed there were loose, cracked, and one missing nylon nut on the pylon bolts. So I went to the "magic parts box" and got some stainless nuts and bell washers. I Locktited and fastened them pretty tight. Then I read here that these bolts are shear duty and not for clamping. Tightening too much would rupture the castings! I hurried out to the garage, backed them off, returned the bell washers to the "magic parts box" and just snugged the nuts back on (with a reapplication of Locktite of course).
Directly and indirectly so many people have provided tons of info. Of couse I have reciprocated a little, I'm no stranger to fixing boats, cars, and most mechanical things. This is a GREAT board!....As Clint Eastwood would say "I'm not ready to take a long hot shower with you" but THANKS AGAIN
