I recently discovered Windrider.com and sailflow.com for wind forecasting. Both are better then the useless wind forecasts of Weather.com but both left me becalmed this sunday PM on forecasts from both sites sin the 4-6kt. range, weather.com forecast 9 kts. It was 2-3 in the AM and dead calm in the PM.
We were about seven miles out and thankfully had the 2 hp Honda to get us home.
Anyone else have better luck with wind predictions? It seems that weather forecasting is now only a matter of putting together a computer model and printing out the results with no check for accuracy. That's how we got this whole global warming scare industry started. I'm just looking for better wind forecasts and seems like wind is the toughest thing to forecast.

Check out iwindsurf.com. They have a computer model forecast, but this is reviewed by a meterologist. They give a pretty good detailed explanation of what they expect to happen both for the current day and also for a 3 day extended forecast.

The service isn't free, about $100 per year, but I think they offer a one or two week free trial.
