Weight Distribution and Center of Gravity Location of boat

I know this question has been asked before about the position of boat on a trailer. But, my question is there an optimum position of the boat in relation to the axle and roller supports/cradles and still maintain the 10% tongue weight?

I can adjust/stretch the trailer so the roller crossbars support the weight of the boat over the trailer. Should the "center of gravity" (COG) of the boat be positioned over the axles? And where is the (COG) of the boat?

if I recall correctly, the COG is just aft of the mast, maybe 12" or so. but that is a rigged COG, not hulls only.

Hulls only should be about the middle to rear of the dagger board trunk. I would locate the wheels in this general area, the mast cradle and mast will weigh the trailer tongue down as well. Make sure the tongue is long enough so you don't punch the front of a hull into the side of your vehicle in a sharp turn.

Tip: Measure the width of your tow vechicle ... add 18-24"s to that number ... divide by (2) .... now measure from the hitch/ball along the trailer tonque and mark at the dimension you calculated (I wrapped electrical tape around the tonque) .... do not push the boat any further forward on the trailer making sure that the bows are aft of that mark. Now you can turn 90* between the tow vehicle and trailer (like when making a U-turn) and not dent the rear quarter panel of the tow vehicle.

Adjust tonque wieght now by axle location and load (in trailer box if you have one)

Biggest mistake .... not having the H18 bows supported properly ... especially on rollers!!! The trailer (front crossbar) should support the H18 hulls approximently 18-24" in front of the boat's front crossbar ... on BUNKS or CRADLES .... either should be carpeted w/ nylon carpet that will not retain water ....
