Hobie Cats are small racing catamerans that are mainly used for racing and personal use. In many beach towns, you will fnd a wonderful array of catamarans known as "Hobie Cats" on the beaches. Usually around 12-14 feet long, with a mast around 20 feet tall, Hobie Cats are affordable personal watercrafts. They can reach high speeds near 30-40 knots, and are very light. In turn, they are often capsized due to the size of their large mast, which often pulls them under, and flips them upside down into the water. Here is a typical Hobie Cat on a sunny day: <img src="http://ipl.univ.trieste.it/ipl/people/hobie.jpg">

Can't someone just delete all of that junk and black-flag the author?

And some people wonder why Wiki doesn't have much respect...

I don't think you understand how wiki works.

My post contained the first wiki article about hobie cats, it was posted way back on 05, and since then revisions have been made by the public to have created the hobie cat wiki entry we have today.
Anyone can edit a wiki page, but the edits are revised and removed if the information was not correct.

Hooperbob saw there was no wiki entry for cats, and did his best to create one, within a few days the post had already been edited to make it better. There have been over a thousand revisions.

Its interesting to see all the edits made to the page.
Look at this one

I didn't realize that it had been edited (I didn't try to find it in Wikipedia) but I do understand how it works. I think it's complete crap to post bad information as 'fact' and expect other people to come along and clean up after you. You should post stuff that you know and read stuff that you don't know. I see a lot of this in my line of work and people make decisions based on that kind of bad info.
