Trailer manufacturers with Hobie experience

Does anyone have a custom/semi-custom trailer manufacturer they can refer me to? I am not interested in a DIY project. But I would like a side-by-side trailer with a box in the front. The dealer wants $2k for a side by side no box. Hoping I can get the semi-custom trailer for that price or less.

Thoughts?

Unfortunately there are limited and expensive choices for a dual PA trailer. That's why I built 1. You can get used dual jet ski trailers for $500 + and then mount some PVC tubes and your box on it. I have about $900 in mine but I got an extra wide trailer, mounted tubes on boards for the PA's and rod storage, mounted a Used Hobie toy box between the PA's to store all my kayak and fishing supply's and a storage box on the front for supplies in case of a breakdown on the road and mirage drive storage.

I hope you have better luck in your search for a new 1 than I had.

Thanks for the input. How did you mount PVC to the trailer? Did you mount the PVC to the normal landing boards that came with the jet ski trailer?

I mounted boards on the trailer and then I used U shaped pipe mounts on the pipes and screwed them to the boards.

I have an aluminum trailer made by Aluma (out of Iowa). Model is a PWC2. I only paid $1,400 for mine. The average price at the time was around $1,600. Great trailer. 5 year warranty. It's originally a dual jet ski trailer, but is easily modified for 2 kayaks. Look through the posts and you should find some pictures. At work, so I don't have access to uploading any shots from here.

You can usually find the trailer at Aluma dealers if you search the web. They are sold all over the U.S.. Good luck!

FE Trailers in San Diego makes a custom galvanized trailer for the local Hobie dealer. It has the Hobie cradles at the exact 67" distance called for by Hobie. I think I paid about $1,300 - $1,400 for it.

If you want referrals for trailer builders, it would make a lot of sense to add you location to your information or at least this post.
I'm sure there are hundreds of builders in Florida as opposed to say, somewhere in the Midwest.

I have a Yakima trailer but next time will get a used jet ski trailer and adapt it for the kayaks. Lots of advantages to having a trailer that you can back into the water to launch and later retrieve the fully rigged kayaks and the heavier the kayak or the more gear you put inside it the greater the advantages. Only the jet ski trailers will allow for this with kayaks. Even the Malone and other kayak trailers have the boats much to high to be able to launch them at a boat ramp without risking damage to the tow vehicle.

I am in Las Vegas. I plan on buying my yak from Fastlane in San Diego. I went on their Fishn Mission last year and loved it.

FE Trailers in Lakeside, CA (San Diego) are the best! They made me a custom rig for my PA14 and the wife's Revo11. I had the put a triangular aluminum box up front for storage. Since I want to tow the boats a long distance on the highway, I wanted a steel trailer with 13" wheels and a long tongue.

They made it 60" wide x 20' long, galvanized, using Hobie cradles. 2200# GVWR, swing jack, LED lights. $2400 out the door. Fits in the garage.

I did NOT want an aluminum trailer.

This one tows in a straight line at high speed.

The son and daughter have a PA and Outback, so I'm going to have FE build a second rack. With the high GVWR I have lots of options for adding more boats and storage.
