Hi All,
I have an older hobie revo and are thinking about making an upgrade to a pa 14. How much of a difference am I going to notice in speed and stability?

I fish a mix of lakes and bays. My concern is hours in the bay current. Am i going to see a 50%, 25%, 10% decrease in speed?

Anyone make the change and are you happy with it?

I have a Gen1 PA14, the wife has a Revo 11.

My 29 year old son borrowed mom's yack and went fishing with me last week. In a drag race our speeds were identical over about 100 yards. However I was pushing 2.5 times the boat weight, so I suspect he could have kept up his speed over a longer distance.

The basic difference is size and maneuverability. The PA is the aircraft carrier of the yack world. The Revo is the sports car of the yack world.

The PA is insanely stable but it turns like a truck.

The PA is a monster to handle, on and off the water, but it can carry everything you need and more. Out on the big water, it gives me lots of confidence.

Apples and oranges. Borrow a PA and play with it. Lift it, pull it, launch it, peddle it. I think it will be clear which boat you want. And no, I'm not going to tell you which one because it will be a personal decision of yours, not mine.
