I ordered a tandem kayak hobie island 2015, to my surprise I was told that the delivery is unknown at best end of June ...the strike on the west side does not seem to me the only reason, other companies had the same problems and found solutions
I ordered it in January for use in the spring during my vacation. I have to cancel my vacation and I have already paid € 2,500 to the order.
This is not a commercial behavior and no financial compensation seems proposed.
should we cancel the order?
merci pour vos réponses

You could get creative and try to find a 2015 TI in stock with a different distributor. Many may be sold out, but I'm sure some distributors with the foresight of demand, have some in stock. Then you could take that vacation. 8)

Most materials supply issues are solved, but production has been running at capacity. We can't keep up with the demand. Production is sold out into June now. There are still issues with the ports.

Actually, that's about on par. I ordered mine back in August and didn't receive it until February. They didn't start production until January. So your order came in after a lot of others (about 4 months worth). Not to mention you are overseas, so there would be added shipping time.

I ordered my 2015 Adventure Island (AI 2) mid-Oct, 2014. I hoped to use it Mar 7, 2015. It arrived Feb 15, much too late for my possible plan to use it, along with my friend and his AI 2, in the 2015 Everglades Challenge. Given the 2015 EC was canceled this year, that now appears to have been good fortune (i.e., the late arrival of the AI 2.)

Well maybe you feel better for venting, but realistically.
!. There were many changes made to the 2015 models, and given that Hobie also changed the majority of its whole range, it wouild be surprising if every change went without any issues.
2. The Hobie range has proven even more popular than the company predicted, so production could not quite keep up with demand.
3. An unprecedented strike on the waterfront caused significant delays to export orders.

So it looks like you lost your gamble that your new Tandem Island would arrive in time for your vacation.

Why should anyone compensate you for your failed gamble? I would recommend that you take your new TI out twice as many times over spring and summer, and you will quickly forget about this minor delay.

Hobie tandem enthusiasts like many of you I decided to purchase a 2015 TI Adventure back in December Of 2014 . My family purchased our first Hobie cat in the late 60's to shed a little light on my age . I grew up sailing the 14's, 16's and the 18's To the point . It appears that Hobie has found themselves in a business dilemma . To much demand , to many issues with delivery of foreign parts, and to many dealers over promising delivery of the product . To name a few current challenges .
I have decided not to place my TI order until I start reading new owners on the Fourm witnessing their joy with the delivery of their TI's . In the mean time I plan on renting a TI from a vendor on the Texas coast . All the best to y'all as my grandmother would say to me " tal es la Vida " "such is life "

Respectfully,
Rj

You must have missed them, there have already been several - including mine.

I haven't had a cakewalk, there have been some teething issues, but at least mine did arrive on the truck when expected. About the only major issue I've had is that I had to fix my rudder control first time out (limiter line too short, couldn't steer fully).

Here's the thread when my TI arrived:

Yep, I think I posted about my first couple of outings as well. The posts are starting to trickle in. I'd have more but the weather in Nebraska just hasn't been cooperating. Next weekend looks good though and I should have some footage of the whole family enjoying the new boat.

Maybe paying a deposit on a hobie might be a better than coughing up the full amount. A late delivery might not hurt so much under these circumstances.
