I've changed my mind. I think Hobie should bring back the handles on the TI. I find them very useful when riding in the back. I use them all the time, naturally for maintaining balance. But I am sitting up very high on an Attwood, so maybe the Vantage chair TI's don't need them???

Carl, that is very logical, but why doesn't Hobie just put the handles back as they did for 10 yrs or so. They should never have been removed!!!

What ever happened to "brought back by popular demand."

i personally dont want them due to the spray issues, but if they could maybe redesign them rather than remove them so that they dont spray i would be fine either way...

I'm still amazed at the people who feel the "splash" or spray is a problem. I went for years thinking I didn't have splash/spray from the handles. Finally, I noticed it one day, even took a video.

I get wet sailing these boats (Tandem & AI 2) so the handle splash seems trivial. As Patrick Henry has been quoted: "Give me liberty or give me death." Hobie handle version: Give me the handles or I'll keep my 2014 Tandem. (I recently bought a tandem. Bought a new 2014 with handles over newer boat.) Just my thoughts.

People, given the severity of this perceived problem, I propose making "Island side handle splash shields" These will be precision carved out of pool noodles to totally prevent the insidious splashes as shown in Keith's video.

Happy to supply these at $40 a pair plus postage.

Let me know eh?

They had to remove them so you wouldn't constantly be pulling the "Venturi" drain to let the water out of the seat well.

The only time I could see this as a problem is if the water is cold. I sailed for several hours this weekend and even without handles I was soaked. Heck, my left hand was submerged most of the time (it was really choppy on the lake with lots of powerboat/jet ski traffic).

I never sit in water. What are people doing? Plugging up all the drains!

Keith - I haven't been reading this board (or any .. personal choice to spend less time online) much the past year but I am thoroughly pleased to see you survived the onslaught of deadly H2o in that video. Great Scott .. you could have melted !!

It pleases me to see you are still keeping the dry side up :)

Alan, you're probably right to skip the forums. You (I) can spend incredible time on them. Still, they are entertaining at times (irritating, too, at times.) If you think you will have more time when you retire, you won't. In any case, have fun...
