Hi

I have been sailing Hobies for years (Hobie 16 and now a Tiger) - I find the Tiger to be a lot of work in setting up for the recreational sailing I now do and am considering a T2.

I've seen a few posts about mods adding a boom etc.

Would really appreciate any comments on how it actually sails out of the box with no mods. Are speeds even close to what a H16 can do? How does it do sailing upwind?

Also will be selling my 2003 Tiger located in Toronto.

Thanks in advance!!

It sails nicely but I would not call it a light wind boat. In light air the H16 will outpace it. In mid to heavier air the T2 can hold its own. It has a more modern sail plan than the H16. In our club racing the H16 is given a D-PN of 76 and the T2 gets a 77. The H16 is a tad faster.

The T2 I have sailed also has the spinnaker (same as the H16 spin) and I would highly recommend it.

I don't have a lot to compare it against, just my old 14 that I learned on. But I love my T2. Speeds are pretty solid, when barely flying a hull w/ crew I have no problems hitting the upper teens in MPH according to my GPS apps. Supposedly cracked 20mph once on a gusty day. I do kind of want to add the furling gennaker at some point for light wind days though.
