I had a go at making an extension to my short batten. Worked out great. I had some help from Joe at JoyriderTV in his latest Q&A. Should keep me sailing till I can source a new/old batten that is long enough.
Also this helpful comment was also posted;
"For lengthening the batten :
If you already drill, I would drill holes for 1-3 wooden dowels, cut them flush, and then use the tape to keep everything in position. But in this manner the tape does not have to take the shear forces, that are done by the dowel. And the overlap should be at the BACK end, there a flat spot is not critical, in the forward 1/3 of the sail is really not good."
