I picked up a new-to-me Wave this week which came with EZ-Lock rudders and (I believe) old style rudder pintles. Any option other than just order up the new style pintles? It also came with all the rigging for a jib, but no actual jib. I'm looking for the dimensions of a Wave jib so I can mock up something while I track down the real thing. Thanks!

Congratulations on the new Wave! For the rudders, maybe it is easiest to use the new style pintles if you want everything to work well. Regarding the jib, I recommend looking at Hobie forums or inquiring at a local sail loft. Someone there might know the exact measurements, or you could possibly borrow one to take your own measurements. Best of luck with getting everything set up!

Congrats on the Wave! If your old pintles are still in decent shape, there's no rush to upgrade stick with them until you notice any wear or issues. The new style pintles are nice but not absolutely necessary right away.

As for the jib, the standard dimensions are about 8'6" for the luff, 7' for the leech, and 3'4" for the foot, so that should help you mock one up. You could also check with a local sail loft or on Hobie forums in case someone has a spare or can offer exact specs.

Hi, congrats on your cat, I had converted to ez lock rudders ( i dont race as racers sware by the old style ) im more of a swashbuckler on very windy days in Cape Cod waters and i managed to find the new style pintails at Magrew’s Boats in RI , and if I was more careful removing the screws I wouldn’t have broken the heads off of 9 of the 12 of them, luckily I have a sharp drill index and the luck with mechanical skills to drill them and retap them oversize to 6MMx 1 from the stk 3/16” the pins are a bit longer and are needed for the thicker brackets to be able to fit the lock clips, you may be able to get away with the old ones if you dont ask as much as I do from my little boat which I had oversized all the rigging pins to 1/4”also. Well, that’s my two cents and many happy sailing days to you! Ray
