I've got a Outfitter Mirage Tandem 12' 8"; 74 lbs.

Having tried the Hullavator at a few trade shows I thought for sure this was the way to tote this heavy yak around.

I installed myself. Not much to it, except my factory crossbars had to come off and I had to pay the expense of installing Thule's crossbar system. The gas strut arm assembly attached to the Thule crossbars. The arms worked fine. I lowered and raised the arm assembly several times. Everything seems fine.I put the yak in the arm cradles, strapped it in and the Hullavator would not lift the yak. I could release the handle lever; heard the click; and begin raising the yak but ONLY by my own muscle. The arm assembling and gas assisted strut would not "assist" the lift.

I have been sent new arm assemblies. Same thing. The arm assembly and gas strut would not assist my lift at all.

Has anything had success lifting a yak this heavy? Thule says it should handle a yak up to 100 lbs. The Outiffter is 2/3 of that and it doesn't work at all? Suggestions?????

It's a gas assist, not lift. Put a lightweight in it, say 35lbs or so and it will go right up. When lifting heavier yaks, do not force it up. You will be trying to force the shocks and fighting them if you try to move too quick.
