I was looking for a way to connect the standard bolt on Scotty Mount to the rails on my new (coming soon) Hobie Outback.
I've seen people use pieces of cutting boards, etc. to make their own rail mount (there was one on my previous kayak).

Has anyone come up with a better solution? Some of these mounts are crazy prices when I could DIY something similar for much cheaper.

For this one specifically, I am thinking of cutting a plastic board to mount with rail screws on four corners, and span between the outer rail mount and inner H-Rail mount on either side.

And probably a second one to do the sounder mount. I feel like this might be stronger for both applications.
