Hobie 18 Jib Halyard with Aussie Rig

Hello I am curious if anyone has used a Aussie Jib Halyard with the Hobie 18 Jib. I currently own a H16 and I find that the Aussie Halyard works well for me to easily rig the boat, for tensioning and jib raising I find it as a coinvent system. I am working on building up a Older H18 and I would like to have a battened jib that can be used with a Aussie halyard on the H18. I am curious to hear what folks might have to say about doing such a thing?

The 18 jib halyard runs inside the jib, so would not work on the H18 with furling jib.

So if I was to have a custom 18 jib made, with the steel wire inside the jib like on a 16, could I theoretically rig the 18 with the Aussie halyard? Also I would add the needed cleats on the base of the mast to hold the tension. I do not want the furling jib I prefer a battened jib like my 16.

Would the Aussie halyard blocks be Able to adapt to the 18 in this fashion ?

Never considered it.

The benefit of the Aussie halyard is hoisting the H16 jib and the luff wire tensions the jib. The 18 uses a forestay and zipper jib, so the rig is tensioned prior to the jib sail being hoisted. The furling jib if much larger than a battened jib could be on this rig.

Would be different. Not as powerful. Maybe different sheeting points required.
