I hope I am not letting the "cat" out of the bag (pun intended) but had just been informed that there are shipment delays due to Hobie making improvements on the deck board on subsequent shipments. As an proud owner of an Eclipse, and note that it was not cheap (loving every penny spent though!!) I'd like to know if the initial shipments will be retrofitted (recalled?) to ensure the update is being address on the first boards.

I took my Eclipse on its maiden outing yesterday and loved it. Hubby has his coming in the June order (since we were lucky to get only one in the May order). Am glad his will have all safety features, however, as a concerned consumer, I'd like to know what Hobie is planning to do with those of us that already got our boards.

Hobie?

Edit...

I am in China, which is where I responded from initially, and now have a chance to clarify my message. Because of suggestions from the field, we have decided to add a non-slip EVA pad to the front of each Eclipse to prevent slippage when installing and removing the handlebars. An added benefit will be that this will avoid the potential of dinging the board when removing the handlebars. We will be providing an upgrade kit at no charge to each owner who has registered their board on-line as soon as they receive them in stock. We will also be updating production with this upgrade as soon as the kits arrive. If you have already registered your board, you need to do nothing, as we will automatically generate an order for your upgrade kit. Our goal is to provide the ultimate in customer satisfaction with each Eclipse purchased, and we think this will be a great upgrade.

Just got my 'upgrade pad' this week. Short installation video on youtube; very easy to install..... even got mine on 'straight'!
Nice addition; I wish they would have additional 'pads' for the bow and stern (more complete deck coverage)..... my dog likes to 'roam around'!
