I am new to the Eclipse and Mirage Drive systems. Before making this sizable investment I would like to hear how the Hobie drive system and the new Eclipse hold up in a salt water environment (chain, cables, handle bar, ect)? Is there any additional maintenance recommendations for this type of use?

Thanxxxxxxxxxxx in advance for any help with this. P T

Parts are plastics, stainless steel, anodized aluminum... All meant for salt water use. Fresh water rinse makes them happy.

P T, I have had my Revo 11 since 2012, and use it at least twice a month in only salt water. Always rinsed with fresh water and WD40 on moving parts and exposed cable. The drive looks great, designed for salt water use as Matt has mentioned.

Slight red color at the cable ends, but just surface patina.

I don't have ball bearings, but the bushings run smooth.

Eclipse should hold up just as well.

Enjoy!

I have been using my V2 mirage drive regularly in salt water for 3 years, treat my drives just as described above, no issues or concerns, got my GT drive in Feb with my i11s and it has probably 20 salt water outings so far, no issues or even any discoloration so far...cheers, roger
