I currently in the process of epoxying my hobie’s frame together and I have broken it all apart When it comes time to put it back together, how tight should the dolphin striker be? I have heard about tighten it till its more than a thum but less than a ping. I have also heard about a “deflection” method of measuring the tightness, but I can’t find much it should deflect. What is the proper tension on the dolphin striker?

Tight enough that it "thummmms" when you hit it with your hand. If it's too loose, it will "clunk".

There is no "deflection method". The rod is too stiff to deflect, even when it's loose.
