Hey guys. Just about to purchase my first Hobie 16, super excited about that. Borrowing a trailer to pick it up, but am going to eventually want to get a trailer for it. What do you guys think is the best type of trailer to get? (keeping in my availability). Obviously I would like to get an official hobie cat trailer, however, how much are they new? I am having a hard time finding used hobie cat trailers, anyone know of a good place?

Thanks in advance.

just keep looking on craigslist for old hobie 16s and sometimes the value of the trailer exceeds that of the boat and trailer so that it is worht it.

also, just post a wanted ad on craigslist directly and youll be suprised what you can find.

lastly, use the yellowpages and call up local trailer repair/ mechanics/ maintenance places/ as well as junk yards. You'd be suprised whats lying around or for sale. im sure youll find something if you just look around hard enough. depends how hard youre willing to look/ how much time youre willing to invest.

i lucked out on my best trailer, and got it with my beautiful H14T(and soooo many extras) for only $100. Much better than the $440 i paid for a rusted old trailer, an H14, and parts of a H16. Before that was $500 for a great condition H16, but with a horrible trailer.

so its really random where youll find the good stuff. you didnt post your location but in bay area, california theres a trailer goin for $100 :

good luck

If you are looking for a new trailer that will probably out last your baot. Check out Trailex at http://www.trailex.com. They make nice, really nice cat trailers. I have one and love it. THey will run about $1000 depending on the model you get and the extras.

The Hobie Cat trailer listed in our catalog is galvanized steel and runs $1,265.00

The Trailex trailers are usually more. Shows $1600. on their website for a Hobie 16 size.

I hate to point people away from Hobie stuff, but I really do reccommend the aluminum trailers. They are great. I bought my H18 trailer for under $1500 a few years ago. This included shipping. The H16 should be less. Call them and ask. It really depends on what options you get. They often have specials too.
