Are there step by step instructions for posting pix?

What are some of the free hosting sites for pix?

I figured out a way in "Flickr" - real pain to get each URL.

I posted some of this in another thread, but you might miss it because the title did not mention pictures.

I finally figured out how to do it with Google Photos. Working from a PC:
1. Log in to your Google Photos account, navigate to the desired picture (upload it from your PC of phone if you have not already)
2. Right click on it and "Open Link in New Tab"
3. In the new tab, right click on the image, select "Copy Image Location" (copying location from the URL window does not work)
4. Then go to your forum message draft, select "Img" and paste where the curser is sitting

Not sure if this helps regarding other photo hosting services. Google Photos is free and works pretty well, if you trust Google with your info.

From an Android smartphone linked to your Google account:
1. Open the photo, click on the "share" icon
2. There will be a bunch of options for places to share...select "Upload to Photos" (Googley icon)
3. It should display an icon of the file and your Google account name & email; Select "Upload"
4. Now the photo is in the Google cloud. You can link to it using a PC as described above. Or, from your phone:
5. Open Google Photos...find the image and open it
6. Click the share icon, among the many choices to share it to, select "Create Link", you should get a message that says "Link Copied. Share it in an app."
7. Navigate to the forum and paste the link into your message as described above.

The above smartphone steps work with my S7 with the latest Android update. Procedures for other phones my differ slightly.

When I try this step I "get copy image address" is this the same thing as "Copy image location"? Because the address is about a mile long.

Sounds right. Different browsers and OS can have slightly different menu item descriptions, but yes, the address will be very long. The test example you posted did not seem to work, but the link address looks very similar in form and size to one I successfully pasted into another posting. Not sure if this is your issue, but make sure you have not checked "Disable BBCode".

That's funny that my test post is not working now because the photo appeared when I first did it.

For the last 12 years I have used Photobucket to post pictures on the Hobie forums. I recently noticed that Photobucket is now superimposing their logo on all of my posted pictures that still show.
As a result, I set up an imgur.com account and then reloaded the pictures from my PC to my new imgur.com account.

What should I do about all the Photobucket pictures in my Hobie forum posts? Should I edit each of my old posts and delete the Photobucket image and replace it with the same image from my new imgur.com account?

Use Imgur. There is no silliness from them and seems to work.

Tim, it doesn’t seem like it’s worth the time and effort to go back and change the images in all of your old posts. The pics are still visible right? Even if they aren’t I still wouldn’t fix em. I would leave them and just use imgur for all the new posts.

I use Tapatalk. It’s very easy to keep up with forums and post pics straight from my phone.

I enjoy this forum. Lots of good insight and information. I think it's awesome that Hobie experts provide helpful information. Given the quality and innovation that Hobie leads with I would think their forum would be much more user friendly at posting pics. I've been on 7 different forums and never used one as difficult as this one to post pics.

From what I understand from using forums, pictures have to be “hosted” by an online source, then you copy and paste the url of a picture into the body of text within the forum, that’s how it usually goes.
Tapatalk makes it very easy to post pics in a forum, it’s so simple to use and you post directly from your phone, no 3rd party hosting required. Simple.
