Greetings Hobie lovers across the globe! I am brand-spankin' new here. As a matter of fact, I just picked up my first Hobie yesterday. It's a 1974 Hobie Cat that someone had removed all of the hardware: Mast, sail, rigging etc... The ONLY thing I got was the catamaran and the trampoline, that's it! It's in fair condition and I need some help from all of you Hobie geniuses.

Here's my question: Can you guys kindly point me to Hobie forum posts, or external links pertaining to others who have converted a Hobie cat, or similar catamaran to a motorized catamaran? Electric or small gas powered.

Much obliged!
Glen in beautiful New Hampshire

Many of us have motors on our cats. You can get a Cheeta motor mount and a small gas outboard easily enough. Or look at the Getaway forum for a pretty cool DIY motor mount. I actually replaced my Cheeta mount with the DIY mount because I liked it much better.

Here's a link to the DIY mount: https://www.hobie.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=57851

Hi Glen,
I too am in new Hampshire.
Do you have any interest in sailing your hobie cat or just want to motorize it?
I ask because there are parts around where you could put your boat back together if you wanted.

I have seen some YouTube videos of Hobie Cats turned into motorized fishing platforms. Hope that helps you.
