Am restoring '85 H16. I've done a complete service on rudders and casings. Once installed on correct sides of cat and tiller adjusted all the way out to toe-in rudders, it seems that there's still approx. 1-2 inches of adjustment needed on each side, but no more can be done. It's a huge amount.
I believe the tiller bar is original as are all the parts excepting rigging that I've replaced. However, nothing is certain as it is 36 yrs. old.
I know that I can probably cut a new aluminum tube to a longer length and drill new hole for stop screw, just trying to determine why this original won't work.
Ideas?

Discovered the issue.

Someone may have removed the tiller arms from the connecting bar at some point and when reassembling put the left and right arms on incorrect sides. I used the decals on the bar indicating left and right sides when putting it all together again. Since I never took the tiller arms off the bar, I didn't know they were on the wrong sides of the bar if using the decals as reference. The connecting bar still said left and right on the correct side, but now the tiller arms angled outward where it attached to the rudder casting.

I removed the tiller arms from each rudder and the ends of connecting bar, moved to correct sides, (angled inward) reconnected everything and adjusted for correct toe-in. Voila!

Pics are of how is was. (incorrect angle direction)
