 Post subject: inside hobie 16 mast

after removing mast head found three square plastic blocks inside mast , anyone know what they are for ?

Maybe some ones idea of internal flotaion??
When I opened up my masthead for repairs I took the opportunity to glue a Hobie foam mast plug into the mast to seal it from water in case of capsize. Then reattached masthead with sealant and rivets.
