I'm looking at buying a used 2018 outback. Price is 1750.00. Seller says it needs both masts and fins but drive assembly is 100% mechanically fit. My question is what other damage should I be looking for? Seems like it would take quite an impact to bend both masts and crack the fins. Is it possible to test the drive assembly with it being damaged? Could the hull be cracked? Thanks in advance for the insight.

I would check thoroughly for hairline cracks around the scuppers (top and bottom sides) and around the drive well (inside and out). Ask if they've used a scupper cart to transport it. Hold the drive in the air and move it back and forth by hand. Make sure the drive doesn't have a lot of grinding noise that would indicate the bearings have sand in them. Make sure the masts are not bent. They can bend. Also ask for a MSO. This doesn't necessarily mean it's not stolen but removes a lot of doubt.
