I recently had to purchased a new fore-stay for my Hobie 14. When I rigged the boat it seemed to long. After working with it a bit I was able to get everything set up with the fore-stay in the last hole on the chain plate on the front. With the longer fore-stay theres a little more mast rake correct? But the stops on the bottom of the mast do not hit the stops on the cup for the mast on the front cross bar. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Pre-80s boat? In about 82 the cup (step casting) was changed to accommodate more mast rake.

Yes the boat is 73 I think. I forgot to mention I measured the length of the old fore-stay. It was 12' 3" (I think is what it was), and the new one was 12' 8". Is the standing rigging different for pre-80s boats?

Yes... as the years went by we discovered (racers discovered) that the boats performed better with more mast rake. We only carry the latest dimension.
