parts interchangability 14/16 - from Very Naive new owner

I just purchased a 14' Hobie Cat that was the foundation of a tri maran patio boat. I'm going to modify it extensively,

description of what I see"
I find the rear cross member that runs left/right between the hulls to be straight/flat
while the front cross member is heavily bowed.

what I'd like to do:
I'd like to replace the curved front piece (and castings) with another 'rear cross member and castings'
this would give me a flat foundation to build on

here are my questions:
1 - Is this a simple bolt / rivet operation? I'll be fastening steel tubing to this base structure then building from there.
2 - are the parts I'm talking about the same between the 14 and 16' boats?
if the 16 footer's cross members are simply longer I can cut it.
3 - are there some models of these boats that are Not interchangeable while others are (racing or Turbo, etc.)

Actually, I know where there are a 14 and a 16 stacked on a trailer in a guy's backyard that he tried unsuccessfully to sell a few years ago. He'd probably entertain an offer.

dorienc, thanks. I've looked at the boat quite a bit and figure I can rig up something without buying parts. These are pretty cool little boats, though I'm sure mine looks nothing like yours. I'm taking it out tomorrow for the first time and will see how it does.

Right now it only has a battery and a 12 volt trolling motor. It will have solar panels and a battery and charge controller. It's taking the place of my 16 foot canoe with a kayak outrigger. By the time I had it all loaded up with ice chests and camping equipment it was just too low in the water. So 'enter' the hobie cat.

For what it's worth, I have an '84 turbo and while it is in quite good shape, getting anything apart can often be a big pain. Parts for these boats are readily available though.
