 Post subject: H16 boom on a H14

just bought a 1970 Hobie 14. The boom is really long I think it belongs to a H16, too long for the H14 sail. Could I cut the boom down to the H14 size? What is the proper length of a H14 boom?

The extrusion is 96". Boom bale is 72" aft.
