Thank you for this idea. I was hoping to avoid drilling new holes but a sacrificial pin or cleat would work.
ps There's a couple of more contributors on this thread who have mentioned the problem.

Suggest a 1/4" wood dowel (craft type) since they are cheap and break easily enough if you ground at speed. That's what I used in place of the aluminum pin on my F242 since the aluminum didn't break easily enough (although that was 3/8"). I haven't drilled into the plastic rudders but don't think they are hollow, but if they are, you may have to fill the hole with some expanding foam, then redrill and coat the foam with a thin epoxy seal so you don't get the rudder filled with water.
