Rake and Jib

My getaway tends to always luff (go against the wind)

It gets hard to steer

As a solution I tried to pin the jib as low as possible to move rake - it helped, but not enough

Can the forestay become loose over time?

Can anyone share a design on how jib should be rigged? I wonder if the jib is rigged too low (it is taking a few holes of the metal bar where we pin the jib)

Does your getaway pull hard as well in one direction in high winds?

Be sure the rudders are secure and fully locked in the down position. If a rudder moves aft at all it will increase the load on the helm.

If only on one tack, check that the rudder blades are a symmetrical foil shape. If flat or concave on one side it will cause imbalanced helm issues.

Both tacks

Yes - issue is diminished greatly with rudders down - however , sometimes rudders come up (they are 21 years old).

Even with rudders down is still pulls towards the wind.

Do you have any diagram on how to rig the jib? How many holes should I be able to go down to? I would like to have the rake more forward to try it out..

The assembly manual and video should help explain the rake adjustments.
