I have inherited a Hobie Wave (rarely used), but the upper mast section insert sleeve is broken 4" off of total 7" butt end. I do not need to have in 2 pieces so can I repair the sleeve insert and thru bolt to lower mast section?

I think you "could" build/add a composite section to the bottom and then bolt.......?

With Comptips costing over $1100+ retail ( I mean this price is outrageous!), I made a Wave mast out of an all alum Hobie 14 mast. No more worries about the comptip breaking. Less than $400 for a complete mast conversion versus a half mast at $1100+. No brainer what to do! But then, I've always been an outlaw and have learned a lot more about "things" by class jumping!!! YMMV.

Have fun and good luck!!
