So I have an opportunity to purchase a Hobie Kayak for a whopping $25. I figure it will make an interesting fixer upper/restoration project. Doesn't appear there is much left on the kayak that is operational. It looks to be an older Outback.

Should I try to tackle this project or just use money I would put into this on a new kayak?

Pics? Any holes?

Is the drive operational or present?

Not real sure how to post pics.. Mostly cosmetic issues. Looks to have been stored outdoors "in the woods" for some time. I don't notice any holes other than the scupper holes.

The drive system is present but I would guess it is in no way operational. Rudder is also present. No seat. No paddle.

pressure test for structural leaks first before spending any money.

servicing/upgrading drive could cost mopre than value of complete set up when finished

I'd buy it for 25. Probably more than worth it.
