Scuttlebutt Poll

I believe the 33rd America's Cup should be:

The Defender and COR racing in multi-hulls.
The Defender and a multi-challenger field racing in monohulls.

Great topic; i think this should be a race that calls for whatever boat you got. You build it you race it the only thing is a money cap. Otherwise lets see multi's they are more exciting and faster, I think S Fossett proved that.

In my opinion, the question being posed is: Would you rather watch match or fleet racing? I believe that the original intent of the America's Cup was to have a match race between what was considered at the time the two greatest sailing nations. As has been proven by the most current winners, any nation can be competitive if they are willing to spend the money (a landlocked nation wins by essentially buying the crew and technology of another, fercryingoutloud). For me personally, I love racing fleet, however, the America's Cup has always been a level beyond, not just for the money and technology, but also for the drama provided by the match race format. I would hate to see a contender knocked out because some back-of-the-pack boat fouls and damages them (been there, done that). Besides, I love the drama of the Contender series and watching the Defending team worry the entire time that they missed some new technology.

I guess I agree with you completely.
