I know it is not a Hobie, but here is definitive proof that whales can deliberately interact, in a really gentle way, with people. I long for such an opportunity....

That's pretty amazing. A similar video that followed it on youtube is a Hobie kayak.

Years ago there was an article on whales in National Geographic and a picture of a diver swimming several feet above the whale. The diver later said that the whale rolled over and echolocated as if to check him out. The diver said he could feel the pulse in his chest. It gives me chills thinking about what that must have been like for him.
