If you have been following the Watertribe, http://www.watertribe.com. But never thought that you could do long distance Adventure Races, I strongly recommend taking a look at the North Carolina Challenge (NCC). http://www.watertribe.com/Events/NorthCarolinaChallenge/Default.aspx

It is a race made for the AI or TI. Do not look at it as a "race". It is more a personal Challenge. Plenty of time and with people that you will like and great North Carolina food.

I did a practice run with my son in May. A father son bonding experience. Here are two videos.:

Register and I will see you there...

DogsLife,
Thanks for the additional motivation. I have been planning to do the EC but hadn't considered the NCC a reality (I live in Tampa, FL.) Your post caused me to begin a very successful conversation with the wife. My training for the NCC begins next weekend. Thanks for being the catalyst for my next adventure. Look forward to meeting you there!

Looked like a great trip Paul. I hope our kids get as much out of our 'bonding trips' as we parents do. Although, at times your son doesn't seem that fussed on your music selection.
Thanks for sharing.

SeeSharkGoFaster,

I am glad to hear that you are thinking about the NCC. There are several people in Florida that make the trip each year. (Chief & Whitecaps) You might be able to carpool.
The NCC is a different trip than the EC. In some ways the logistics are a lot easier since you do not have to move your car. The Driftwood does a great job at supporting the Watertribe. The wives have a whole another thing going on shore. See you there.

Slaughter,

My son had no choice in my music. I thought ahead and brought the I-Pod and speakers. He does like the Beatles. By my self I like no music. Teenagers need to be entertained.

Way to go Dogslife on finishing second in the NCC! What an amazing accomplishment!

Way to go JollyRoger on your third place finish! Great to see the Hobie Islands make such an awesome showing.

Kevin,

I hope that you were not discouraged by the NCC. Showing up is half the battle. Even the experienced Watertribers indicated that in some ways this Challenge was tougher than the EC's that they have done. 20-30 knot head winds and a major cold front moving in were no fun. I will see you on the starting line in Florida.
