Bought my new TI in October and have used it in the tidal rivers around Charleston, SC -- a lot of fun. Two questions for this community:

(1) Has anyone installed a swivel cam cleat for the main sheet for use on the tramps? I'm wondering if this would make it easier to control the line.

(2) Does someone have photos of their cable or rope bracing for the akas? I'd like to take my TI out to the ocean along the coast but concerned about snapping the shearing bolt and capsizing (I am not a thrill seeker, just planning for contingencies). I have been playing around with ideas, and it seems like lines or cables from the akas near the ama connection points to the bow & stern (with a little slack) would work here. I noticed that the tramps, when deployed, might also help.

Thanks,

Chris

A Sprayskirt will slow an ama folding in if a ball-brace disconnects or a sheer-pin breaks in all but punishing conditions. This usually allows you time to steer into the wind or stop the fold-in by hand. I've only used bracing when expecting more punishing conditions.

Quite a few have used swivel cam cleats. I've found I can control the lines well enough from haka's without them and if not then it was time for me to get back in my seat anyway.

mechols,

Thanks for posting the Amazon link, and I hope you can post a pic or two of this mounted on your TI.
